ve pump shutoff

Postby bwise636 » Sat Jul 23, 2011 11:55 am

I have a 93 d350 and the mechanical shut off hasent worked since i've had the truck. When i started turning the pump up i had a board handy to cap the turbo incase of runaway. Now the electric shutoff isnt working either. Can someone tell me how to test the electric shutoff to see if the problem is at the ignition or at the pump and also why the mechanical one may not be working?

When you function the mechanical shutoff it hits against a screw on the pump, try backing that screw out flush so the lever can travel a little farther.

Screw is backed out all the way. Can i rotate the the bracket on the shaft or grind some off the bracket so it travels farther before it hits the stop?

You could re-index the shut off lever. I had to do that once. I didn't mark the lever very well when I pulled it off to remove the spring so I could leave my pull cable in the off position.
