Turbo drain tube removal.

Postby Tacoclaw » Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:59 pm

Alrighty, I hate to start a whole new thread about this, but since I now have 2 turbos and an oil filter hanging in the way I can't really try anything on my own to figure it out.

I'm asking about the hard line that exits the block, where the turbo drain tube connects via a silicone hose. It's just under the oil filter, about 7-8 inches ahead of the passenger-side motor mount. How is that removed from the block? Is there an O-ring seal and it just pops out with some wriggling? Mine's covered with a bunch of built-up crud, so even if I could get around everything I couldn't really risk moving it around too much.

TIA for the replies, I'm finally to the oil feed and drain lines on these damn twins. It sucks to be staring at something that simple just laughing at you from it's little hole back there.

Is that a confirmation on it just being an O-ring seal stuck into a hole?

I'd already be out there with a wire brush if I knew for sure.

There's no o-ring. It's knurled like the tube for the dipstick and driven in there. Good luck on getting it out with out pulling the pan.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Ouch.

Thanks for the replies/PMs Pete and Andrew. I guess It may just be getting a rag stuffed in it and the cut-off wheel taken to it.
