New Fleece Standalone Controller for HE351VE

Postby AHineman » Wed Oct 05, 2011 6:18 pm

I know a lot of people have come up with other setups, but I thought this was pretty cool.

seriously, won't bash anybody but, paying $650 for $30 worth of electronics. Hey, somebody's got to make money. If they didn't patent them, the price will drop quick.

IDK, but I think if it was something really easy to come up with, someone would have brought one out earlier. Maybe no one else thought there was really a market for it. If I wanted to build a sweet tow pig, I'd have one. I think it will work with the bigger Holset variable turbos too, so that might open some doors for people.

anyone ever see people mechanically actuating them? i just did a bit of a search and came up empty.

I agree 600$ is a bit much for 30$ worth of controler. no offence to them I'm sure they put tons of work into it and if it was one for the later trucks that picks up rpm and all that, then very cool.

but its almost unnessesary to use electronics to regulate the vanes just fron MAP readings IMO....?

but I guess they are adjusting the turbo map and it must be more than just a 1:1 type MAP/vane relationship

wouldnt going off of drive pressure be a better way of doing it? high drive pressure open the vanes, low drive pressure close them... simple....

just dreaming...

I agree on the costs and thought the same thing in the drive pressure being used to open the vanes. I read somewhere it was done, it looked simple, but I can't find it now.

Im thinking the drive pressure might be a bit more accurate/ responsive

...but who knows.

hard part would be getting some kind of diagphram that would not get burnt up from pre-turbo exhaust gasses

This is our Holset HE Series VGT turbo controller for Cummins equipped vehicles 98.5 - 2005. This module must be connected to the 3 pin datalink on the aforementioned years to function.

that is what there website says so would still have to do something about the wiring :?
