So... I dont drive my truck everyday, the girlfriend drives it during the day because im sick of commuting it 50 miles both way.

But last night I was blasting up a hill, 4th gear WOT and all of a sudden my heat comes on. for the last 2 months my heat has not worked well (not hot like it used to be) I thought it was just the selector valve behind the dash... whatever.

anyways the heat comes on (I had the fan on) and so I shut it off and cruse for another mile then pull over. everything looks fine, no leaks, water temp was about 170 (high for my truck) and so I continued on. drove it for the rest of the night no issues.

girlfriend texts me saying it has a knocking sound this AM, intermittent, does not go up with rpm. I told her to watch the guages, and make sure they stay in their range, also told her to check the oil incase the front IP seal popped, oil was right on.

anythign else I should be worried about? she just says it has a slight knock at idle, any opinions on what it could be?

Any possibility its "New Drivers Ears". Ladies seem to over analyze stuff sometimes,least mine does

yeah shes got that but she thinks its somthing serious, I hate having her drive it, she good, but shes not too great at spotting issues

ill have to figure it out tonight, hope its nothing bad.

i went pretty hard on it last night climing that grade, an im really hoping something didnt take a crap.

ehh kinda sorta

i have been trying not to "shotgun" parts at it, hence why im weirded out by this sound, taked to her again and she says it sounds like a rythmic knocking sound, that goes away with rpm.

if I popped a IP seal and its filling the case with fuel imma be MAD, I asked her to keep checking the oil to see if the level goes up...if thats the case. then the p-pump motor is going in till the spare is done

the transmission is nice tho

Piece of the fan shroud was broken off, and wacking the fan at idle

Those kind of fixes are nice... Buddy here at work thought the tranny was going out of his toyota... wouldn't shift above 2nd... turned out to be a fuse..

yeah they are nice, she made it sound like a rod was about to come through the block

but id rather her be paranoild then drive around with that little "oils pressures" thingy is reading nada
