Turbo bark

Postby Makaio » Mon Oct 22, 2007 6:40 am

I've been running a hybrid H1C for a few months. It has the 60mm 8 blade wheel and the new housing that came with it has the MWE slots. The upgrade was from Gillett Diesel. As of yesterday, the turbo bark is back when I let off the throttle after a WOT run. Any ideas why it's barking again?

Aloha,
Matt

most turned up trucks will bark the turbo if pushed to full throttle then let off quick. I just run it and try not to let off so fast. Mine bark all the time.

But when I installed the compressor upgrade, it didn't bark anymore because of the MWE slot in the new housing. I did a few hard runs to check my EGT drop and boost increases and the bark was definitely gone. A couple of days ago I pulled out of a parking lot to beat the oncoming traffic and it barked and even my girlfriend was surprised and she said, "I thought that part thingy you put in stopped that noise?" I was like, "I dunno why it did that again".

Thanks for that input, Brian. Yes, it was a bit cooler that night. So.... the MWE slot will not totally eliminate the turbo bark given different conditions?

The denser the air the more likely it is to do it. If you don't like the sound try a stock air filter and housing, I doubt you have one or you probably wouldn't notice the bark. 8)
