thinking about swappin it on to my hx35 to see how much slower on spool up it is and to see if it will reduce my egts, they look capatable, am i right?
if so jus looks like you take 4 bolts out and swap over?

On a 1990, it will bolt up to the manifold, but you will need to fab up some way to connect it to the intake. Should increase air flow and lower EGTs tul you get to higher boost numbers.

Uhhh yeah the 18cm housing will fit but the hx-35 12cm housing puts the exhaust down pipe about and inch and a half back.

Not sure if you worded that backwards or not, Hansen, but it will be a direct swap if neither housing is wastegated.

If the 12cm housing that I assume the HX came with is wastegated, and the 18 cm isn't, the dowpipe will have to move forward about 1-1 1/2". You *might* see an egt relief in the upper RPMs, but it will probably just be hotter down low from the increased lag.

be careful when swaping housings not to "window lock" the housing as this will bend the turbine fins in a heartbeat.

When one side of the "window" comes down faster than the other and causes it to not move. Yea, make sure it spins freely at all times during the process.

Yeah, *simple* as that. Just make sure you've got plenty of good penetrating oil, a selection of hammers(You'll be grabbing bigger ones depending on how long it takes to get off), and if it's really bad, a torch.

I've had to heat 3 of them so far to get them apart. Just go easy with it, If you start getting the housing too hot you'll ruin the seals inside the turbo.

I have a 89 motor in my crew, with the 18cm housing and the NV4500. I find it spools so slow......I have a HX35 with a 12cm I'm going to rebuild and install. With your 6 speed I think you'll find that it will lag quite bad. What gears are you running, 4:10's?

Also are you running an IC? If not this could be a greater source of your high EGT's. And if you don't have an IC did you upgrade the crossover pipe to say a 3". from the very restrictive stock 2" (if your lucky) crossover?
