Piston lift pump fittings?

Postby mike8061 » Wed Nov 09, 2011 8:08 am

As the title says. Does anyone know off hand what fittings are needed to run lines to the piston lift pump?

Also if anyone knows the fitting needed to connect to the VE? Some guys have been making it bigger, what size are they going to?

I want to order what I need so its there when I get home next week.

Richie O has a sticky on it in "The Good Stuff" section, if i understand what you want. Are you using the LP intended for the P7100 12v's and a regulator?

I read the sticky, has the part number for the lines but i dont see the fitting sizes. I have both the high pressure and low pressure LP's. I will be runing new lines and filter setup so I need the fittings to adapt to AN.

The VE pump uses a 12mm x 1.5 straight thread Oring fitting. Same as the turbo oil hole. Not sure of the lift pump as I eliminated mine. I got my metric to an adapter fittings from Summit. I used a swivel on the VE pump that leaked and had to go to a straight fitting and then an elbow fitting. I used -6AN to 12mm x 1.5 straight Oring fitting.

What size AN are you wanting to use?

Thanks!

Any one on the LP?

I ordered the 14mm From rocken teck so i think ill go with the HP lift pump and a regulator to act as the low side of my dual feed system

Does anyone know the threads of the shutdown selinoid? or will I have to make a custom fitting like others have done?

steed speed stait T4 With external waste gate flange ordered.
Waiting on quote for 24v oil pump, H11 rod bolts, ARP studs, Hamiltom 188/220 with their springs and pushrods, 12v rebuild kit.
Waiting till i get home to meassue, then ordering fuel sytem parts from summit.
If forced inductions would get back to me on the twins, id soon be ready to start a build thread :D

From BC's write up in "the Sticky"

BC847 wrote:Here's where we connect the new big line to the lift-pump.

I made the connection with the typical AN6 90* ELL connector. It is connected to the pump with a AN6 to 1/4" MPT adapter. ~

- Coming out of the lift-pump sorta stumped me as it seems to have an inverted flare fitting. I couldn't find an adapter that would convert it directly to an AN6 line. I run the piston type lift-pump. Its output tube is shaped different from the diaphragm type lift pump. Either way, if you convert the tubing to AN as I did, you'll need to cut the pipe just after it turns away from the block. Here again, I couldn't find an AN adapter that would fit the stupid pipe. I think it's metric. The AN converter I did get fits a 3/8" pipe. I ended up slipping a short piece of 3/8" OD copper tube over the end of the steel pump output tube and braised it sealed. That allowed me to use a regular 3/8" pipe to AN6 adapter. From there the big line ran to the fuel filter with an AN6 90* ELL via a AN6 x 12mm 1.5 adapter.

- Finally connect the fuel filter to the injection pump with an AN6 90* ELL and AN6 Straight connector and two more AN6 x 12mm 1.5 adapters. ~

I believe he's using the LPLP in this. Dunno if the HPLP is any different fitting-wise. :?:

Also, considering these trucks don't use much above 20-ish psi, I don't see why you couldn't just shove a hose on the outlet with a couple clamps on it. It was suggested to me for my inlet line fiasco and seems legit.

Well I found a thread where KTA was talking about how he cuts the threads for the shutoff. It dosen't mention what they are though. He must know what they are though if he was cutting them?

they are a weird fine thread pipe size, if i was you i would just make a custom fitting, you wont find one with the correct nipple on the inside to hold the oring.

its not to hard to make one out of a mangled FSS and another fitting. I could pull mine out and takle a picture if you want (that sounds WRONG)

its held 300psi before, IDK what your planning with the dual feed system but you could design it to hold up to 500Psi the fitting itself is only about 1/4 inch thick on the bottom, but it dosnt hold pressure, the oring and the inner tube does

build thread will be cool

were you able to drill and tap a hole in it for another fitting? or did you just braze one on?

The threads on the shut-off solenoid hold pressure fine if you put some Permatex sealant on them.

I had a bunch of these around at one point, I don't think I could find one anymore if I wanted to though.

That looks easier than i was thinking.

Will have a look tomorrow, the 14mm rotor showed up today so the pump is coming off tomorrow.

The thread on the hp piston pump is some sort of a strait metric thread but i sont remember what it was i got mine from a local performance shop and had to modify it it had a real small hole i had to drill it out and cut part of it off and used a copper washer give me a text and i will sent u a pic 618 920 2827

The thread on the output of a hight pressure piston pump is 14mm x 1.50 if you need one i have a carter i bought from orileys brand new that has less than 20 miles on it and the -6 fitting i would sell
