Melted some wires now running lights won't shut off.

Postby Hegemone » Tue Jan 03, 2012 3:00 pm

Just figured I'd see if someone could point me in the right direction-(1990 4x4 single cab)
Yesterday I plugged an inverter in to my dash outlet, then the inverter made contact with the "transfer lever housing" not sure of the proper term, but it's grounded metal. Inverter shorted, melted a good bit of insulation off the wiring to the cigarette outlet and now my running lights/dash lights won't shut off. I'm fairly certain nothing was damaged in the engine bay, so its probably dash wiring somewhere and I don't know where on this diagram to begin. Any help is appreciated.

Check and see if the wires for the lighter socket has melted into the ash tray light wires.

Check at the fuse block also.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.
