Wiper intermitten box

Postby singlesmoker06 » Tue Jan 10, 2012 7:58 pm

I've read everything I can find on wipers and they problems they can make/cause/have, I can get real close to answering my question readin through some threads, but then BAM!!! They stop at the end of the Page and no one responds back. My issue is , my wipers are all BRaND new except for the part I literally just found out was on out trucks, the intermitten box under the dash. My wipers are always on with key on and fuse in the fuse box and I have the constant low and high settings but no other in between, and especially no OFF without pulling fuse.... Any suggestions? Checked all wiring and all looks good, good grounds ....

You can get a box from a junkyard. As with any junkyard electrical component, it's a gamble. I know i've seem people have the same problem. Have you tried searching here?

You're unclear on whether you replaced the multi-function switch.
Though it usually ISN'T part of the problem you're describing, it could contribute.

The majority of the time, even a junkyard intermittent box is good, and they fit a wide variety of vehicles in the 1st gen diesel era, so finding one isn't going to be too hard.

I believe it goes back as far as 1985.

Thanks for the response, and yes i DID replace the multifunction switch, the wiper motor, all the bushings, blades, and checked all wiring. Today I found the box under dash, unplugged it, put fuse back in fuse box, turned key on, have the same speeds as before , constant low and high, and off now, just have to catch it at the parked position and turn the switch off but I doooooo now have wipers and an off position. Don't have to plug or unplug the fuse anymore so that's good. Still no delay settings but it's ok till I get to the junk yard or find a parts truck.....

Mine does almost the same as you have now, I have intermitten, but if I shut the wipers off when they are anywhere but fully down, they stop immediatley in place. I just fool with the switch till they are down...

I hear ya man, it's al good but all I care about is now I can drive it and if it rains I don't look like a fool under my dash trying to plug in a fuse .....
