Intercooler

Postby nolafishr » Sun Jan 29, 2012 4:38 am

I remember reading on here where one of the members installed a Intercooler from a 3rd Gen Truck into a 1st Gen Truck. Does anyone know who did this and is there a write up on this or pics on it? I want to do some upgrades on my 93 and I am looking at options, I know some guys are installing 2nd Gen or Powerstrole Intercoolers also, would those be a better choice in an upgrade and is it an easier install? I had asked about a Turbo also, I have decided that I am going with a new turbo as an upgrade.

Non-intercooled owners seem to choose the 2nd Gen intercooler while the 7.3L Powerstrokeintercooler is the choice of intercooled trucks. The 3rd Gen requires cutting of the frame rails to get it to fit and not really recommended. If you want to see who did one, on DTR there is a guy named G1652S (I THINK) that did it to a non-intercooled truck.

Thanks, The reason I am asking these questions is because I have these parts on hand already, it would save me time fro having to buy the other parts. I am not looking to tear my truck apart either, I may put these parts up for sale and use the money for the new parts.
