What were you running the 1/8??? Your truck has awesome launch and brakes if you can run a 10.0 at 81mph in the 1/4!!!!

KTA, I'm pretty sure that is an 1/8 mile time.

Yes KTA, I took my truck that should run 10s in the quarter and ran 10s in the 1/8th with it :D
I tried again on slicks, without much better luck, although it did run 85mph with no nitrous. Once I get the trans brake launch down then I'll add a few hundred hp of spray and see what happens.

JQ, been following this for a while now.. im interested to see her make a good number.

How many pounds of boost are you leaving with? Unless youre able to seriously transfer the weight a high boost launch if gonna hurt. Watch a few videos of a some Drag Radial mustangs.. they leave soft, tuck the rear end and proceed to leave.

This would be the ideal way to launch Rust Bucket. You have the recipe for a great number, the finesse is just gonna be hard to learn. Good luck buddy, im pullin' for ya! :D

I'm either leaving at nothing on the footbrake or 15psi on the transbrake, but I think I have found a middle ground. I've also thought about starting in 2nd to soften the launch. Of course I still have miles to go on the suspension and axle.....locker, cal-tracs, removing springs, etc. Thanks for the vote of support, I'll let you know how I do this Thurs! :D

10psi off the footbrake, lock in Second, then spray.....

Hang a 1000lb of suitecase weights off the back bumper. It will really help you hook!! Its not as nice as a utility bed full of tools but it will do and besides the crowd loves wheel standers!!! 8)

There's actually a guy who built a rear bumper that was like 400-ish pounds for the 66mm race in Florida. Said he should have done it years ago :D

Anyways, hit the track tonight and went 2.17 to 60, and 8.63 at 86mph. This was with no bottle except for spooling, and locking the converter in Second. That's like a low 13 at about 106mph in the quarter. Still gotta get the 60ft time down more, and then spray it 8)

Truck looks great with the new paint and wheels. Are you still running the open rear or have you upgraded and I missed it?

JQ when you get tired of that thing you can always donate parts to my cummins powered Model A build......would be awesome for your mag!!!!!!.....should be much lighter then the trucks are.....hoping that translates much faster....
1930 Model A, 91 non i/c, he351ve over ht3b, bagged all around, mostly built 47rh, 72 lpm sticks, 600hp/1400 ft lbs (cummins math), just needs traction

I ran a 13.1 at 118mph first full pass with a single stage of nitrous. Coming back soon with a better nitrous strategy and more traction.

Edit: still an open diff.

Project Rust bucket changed my life. I was gonna buy a Ford diesel, but then I read the article "Zero to Hero" in dp mag and I was forever changed. I had to have a first gen Cummins. I got me a 92 d350 dually extended cab LE for $2000. I would like to know what your future plans are with your truck. I would like to see you get more fuel only power. Maybe see how much power you can get out of the biggest and best single turbo and then go twins? Anyhow, whatever you do, I will be watching and reading.

I still think it needs twins and an inter cooler to get the fuel only #'s up. Have you thought about putting a cam in it?

Might as well keep this thread going since it was a long time in the making. :D

I get a lot of people asking me about the reliability of the 14mm pump heads, and I started second guessing myself, even though mine has been fine, and STOMP has even ran his dry to where the truck didn't restart and it still lived. I blew a freeze plug at 3,900rpm and sprayed coolant all over the place, and the pump was ok. I called Dan (Scheid) and asked him if he's had any trouble with the 14mm pumps he sold (probably to "work stock" sled pullers :D ) and he said not that he knows of.

Last thing I did with my truck is drive it to a Mopar club car show by my office, to talk some crap to all the supercharged viper owners  Still runs fine, and still gets mid 20's on fuel mileage. Starting with no heater grid and monster injectors still sucks, as the truck puts out enough smoke to be a major pain (to others lol). I am thinking of putting in smaller injectors for the street after I run at the track again.

Any questions, just ask, and it was nice seeing so many 1st gen guys up in Northern CA at the local dyno event there!
