injector time

Postby ellis93 » Wed Feb 08, 2012 6:32 am

So I've been hearing some ticking under the hood for quit awhile and I'm figuring on it being an injector.
I've done some looking around and found, thru a another shop I use, reman injectors for 30 a piece or they'll clean, test, set pressures on my injectors for 25 a piece.
Sounds like a good deal if I want my stockers in good shape. What yall think, price fare or is that super low and cause for concern.

Yeah,,,I had thought of that too. Rep is no problem. I've delt with them in the past on my pump and misc.parts for other cutomers vehicles.

By the time I bought the nozzles I might as well just buy they're whole injector. Seems it be about the same money.

I guess I was spoiled having a non-IC truck first, with the big stock injectors - so I felt I had to get to that level at a minimum on my '93. I put in some used 5x.012's I got used. First impression... lots more fun!

Getting a quote today on 5x12 nozzles. Guy told me that he thought if my injectors were not in to bad of shape then the price would be 50$ an injector to build w/ nozzles. He's suppose to be getting me a hard figure today

Then do what I did. I put the DDP stage 1 injectors in mine but you may want to go bigger. I called them and told them what my intentions were with the truck and they recommended me an injector to fit my needs. I called other companies before ordering and they either A. didn't answer or return my call or B. didn't know a thing about their injectors, # of holes, size of holes, spray pattern, pop pressure, etc. All they would tell me is "ther 50 horse jectors". So I went with the ones that attempted to know anything about their product and answered their phone.

Be prepared for disappointment on the knock going away though. I had high hopes for my cold knock to go away but it didn't.

Dudes got family troubles or so the shop tells me. So I reckon I'll wait on him :?

This is no cold fuel knock, higher rpm cold or hot. Sound like rocker slap, like out of adjustment.
