Is it a First Gen??

Postby JQmile » Thu Feb 16, 2012 1:45 pm

:D

I thought I would put this on here to confuse you guys.....it's my buddy Harvey's rat rod...has a first gen frame and front suspension, VE pump, and stock turbos (3 of them).....cab is a 48 Chevy, rear frame is custom. So does it have enough parts to be approved by the VE crowd, at least in the "spirit of the project" type of thinking??

I didn't think Rat Rods were anything but rat rods. It just happens to have a 1st Gen engine...

And 3 1st Gen turbos...

And...

Sorry, it took 2 1/2 rolls to start. Not a 1stgen. :P

Awesome ride but damn our front suspension is ugly when there isn't anything hiding it. :yuck: Totally digging the triples though, be sure to keep us updated on how it actually runs with them.

Cool ride, but not a firstgen.

BTW Jq... not to start a whole discussion here, but in the "lets rebuild a getrag" section of your last DPM, there was a spot were it said "dont use 5-30" or something like that, when it came down to what lube to use.

what gives? I dont think there is really anyone out there that can prove/ disprove what oil is best for getrags, ive used anything from straigh 60w , to 15-4-, to 5-30....and honestly like the 5-30 best for normal use

Why would THAT even matter?
All magazines do is promote goods and over-inflate the egos of the "more money than brains" club(s).

Other than that, the ride "featured" here is kinda' neat, simplicity (other than the unnecessary 3 turbo set-up) at it's finest.

I would not say unnecessary Mark. They can spool quicker than a similarly flowing compound setup.

Mark,
Do you think because the Dodge Pile was featured in a magizine that I'm in "the more money than brains club"?
I always thought I was in the" more everything but money club"(bills, taxes, usless opinions, ect)

Rocky

"Dodge Pile" I have a few of those.

I dunno', I don't typically read the rags, so I don't know of the article.
Did you strive to be there, or was it an "accident" that you made it?

Do YOU think you are in the MMTBC? Of course not, so what's the point?

Neat, but tell him to put a shorter belt or a better tensioner on it, seems like it was "wobbling" a lot.

Rocky, you know, I have NEVER seen that truck before this! I have not a clue why not.
Looks like an awesome ride, bet you had some interesting work to get that Cummins to fit in there.

How about the fact it can support 600+ at the wheels? How about the fact the triples were built for about the same price as a compressor upgrade? Notice the stock twin downpipes for the triples?? We do plenty of articles on people that want to trade money for horsepower, but this isn't one of them. It's for you cheapos who don't want to spend any money. If you don't want to spend money, and can't appreciate ingenuity that results in actual gains, then I got nothing for ya.
