what size is the exhaust housing on a hx40? you might be allright, my old man used to reguarly gross out at 22-24 with my truck, bone stock, just do about 33mph up the steep, but it would do it. all i know, is ive been battling egt's since i started tinkering with the beast, i have all the parts for a 4inch, just need to put it on, that will help, but as soon as you add enough fuel to move up a hill at a decent clip, egt's get sketchy. get a 3200 spring, that will help a lot.

Slow down there. A S300 is just as cheap and more reliable with the slightly larger shaft.

S360 is about the same size, same price, and you don't loose your back-up turbo.

It says that's got a T4 housing, so he's either buying a new housing or putting an adapter on his manifold.

Still would hold up better than the Super 40 and take much more abuse. The adapter is not much.

T4 foots have nothing to do with spool. The A/R raito (area to radius) is what effects spool along with compressor size/design, bearing/bushing type, shaft weight, turbine size/design. Getting the .91 A/R is equivalent to a 13 or 14cm housing. .88 A/R is 12cm but it is undivided so spooling may be affected by the exhaust pulses.

Oldestof11, where are you getting your A/R to cm conversion from? I'm asking because I remember Richie mentioning that he had talked to a borg warner tech once, and he was told .80 ar = about 14 cm, if I remember correctly. That would make a .91 equal to 15 or 16 cm turbine housing. I've also seen T3/T4 adapters on ebay for around 40 bucks, so that really isn't a big deal either. (EDIT)Looked at the specs a little closer, and it looks like that turbo has a 3" v-band outlet.
