I got it broke free and have been driving it around all night. I limited myself to 5psi for my first trip around the block, noticed bubbles coming up around the studs and brought it home for a retorque. I burnt the unholy bejeezus out of my hand by grabbing the hotptpipe while taking my valve covers off, but after a 2nd retorque and valve adjustment I set a new limit of 25psi.

Turns out that 20psi is the switching point of my boost, because it is completely impossible to keep it at 25 psi. One spot is 20, but even moving the throttle a hair beyond that has it swinging right to 30+. I managed to cruise it around all night and keep it roughly below 20 psi, all the while putting the spanking on my buddy's 1stgen that has kinda been my rival forever. I passed him at 30psi while he had his truck floored at an unspecified psi and 1600+ EGT. 8) He's got old DDP4's, a HX35, and a 1stgen IC setup. He layed 2 more HP than me on the dyno, and beat me by .02 in the 1/8th. It was a while ago, but still.

When I gave my truck a hot retorque, my studs started turning at 75 ft/lbs. My valves were tight, but that's to be expected after a torque.

Like I told Hineman, it's good to see some results from all this downtime, even though the truck still smokes like a freaking train down low. I foresee a fuel screw detuning in my near future.

Been driving it around all weekend. I'm still chasing down fuel inlet line leaks, since I apparently left every threaded connection loose on it.

It's fun, and my max boost seems to be down to around 47psi. I've got to work on my 'gating setup, since I haven't changed it since I was using it as a limiter. It also managed to give me a solid 2 days before it started leaking oil. Now it's leaking worse than it ever did before. I think my front crank seal didn't work out, but I've got a leak coming down the rear that I just can't place yet. Oh well.

Also, on the cam really has changed the noise that the exhaust makes. It was hard for me to describe it at first, but now that I've been in it for a while I think I can do it. The exhaust sounds like it's coming from a much bigger engine. It's almost got a drone quality when you're driving around, but it's not really annoying. It's like it's hooked to a 12 liter or something, just a real semi-sound it has now. Well, that's in the cab, who knows what it sounds like outside.

Also, I'm proud to announce that I did forget to tighten my motor mounts. 8)

I pulled it into the shop to "clearance" my hood and noticed the oil drips. I got under it to look for them and the first thing I see is a bunch of scratches in the crossmember where it torqued the motor mount up and slammed the nut and washer against it.

Now that they're tight I can finally say I own a vehicle with tight motor mounts.

I may just bring a ratchet n socket to check your lugnuts before the race, who knows if you tightened them up, I dont want a tire coming off and hitting my truck at the strip

Let's continue our derail here, that's kind of what this thread does best. 8)

Anyways, the only thing I can teach you about racing is how to lose. And break things. And make the guy standing at the line cringe in agony at the noises and movements your front axle is making.

I ran at the track over in West Virginia, whatever it's called. It's an 1/8 though.

I ran a 10.2 there, and Tyler walked me on the back half of the track to a 9.79. After the way I passed him this weekend I'd guess I'm in the low 9's maybe. The shifting really kills it, and I just can't rape my frontend like I did there again. :(

Just make sure to clean all the gravel out of your bed before you go.

Actually, the day I made 268(Tyler made 270), I ran a 17.7 in the 1/8. No front driveshaft, street tires, no posi, and a prepped dragstrip apparently equal out to racing on ice for me. I literally spun my tire through 4 gears, and it even started spinning again when I let off in 4th and rolled back into it.

I didn't go back for a second pass over the embarrassment of it.

I know you can't, Hineman. well, maybe if you went out to your driveway and hit it with a hammer or something... ;)

Truck still had the same mods when it ran 10.2? I'm trying to get an idea of what my truxk should run

Ehhh, maybe? I have no idea to be honest. I tinker with this thing so often that it's hard to keep track. I doubt there was anything major changed, maybe different intake piping or something.

I just thought you should be more worried about all the other drivers that will be raping your rearend. :P

I remember that 17.7 pass. I heard it all the way from the dyno. We thought they were doing a burnout contest.
