Holset H1E

Postby 1stgenpullin » Wed Apr 25, 2012 7:24 pm

I found a Holset H1E off of craigslist for $100. The guy said it has little shaft play and came off of a 8.3 liter cummins. He said there's roughly 170,000 miles on the turbo and worked good when it was taken off the truck. The compressor fins are good none of them are bent or chipped. I have a 89 non ic with the stock h1c and i have ground the fuel pin and messed with the pump and made an air intake. The tranny is a 727 and has just been rebuilt, i have aftermarket clutch packs and a shift kit. What do you guys think?

I think that's what you got going on there. It'll be a cheap upgrade if you get it for $100.

Yeah I read that earlier today. What was the reason for it though? Is it because the h1e is a t4 flange?

I'm not too sure, honestly. As far as I know, the H1e is to an HX40 like the H1c is to the HX35.

You might check around on the housing and see if it has a cm2 listed, or if it even has a T3 flange. If it's not too ridiculous, I figure it's got a 4" outlet and you may be able to jut run it. I have no real idea though. :?

Okay the guy said it is a t4. Will that bolt to our manifold or is it a t3?

Hey guys I went and bought the turbo and it looks great! I got back to the shop and i took the v band clamp off and i tried taking the compressor housing off but its stuck on. I only took a flat blade and tapped it with a hammer a few times but I dident want to hurt it so i stopped lol. Im thinking of spraying it with some pb blaster then trying again. Any ideas? I also bought an intercooler from an 07 cummins that was in a crash so the bottom of it is bent in about an inch or so and it doesnt look bad at all and the guy said it dident leak. I got it for $40...
