smoke is gone and fuel screw is bottomed out and egts are about 750 800 WOT so i like quite abit im just kinda down on midrange to top end power thats why i was curious about the timing unless i just need a M3 and injectors ?

Which cam are you running? Along with which injectors? Stomp was kind enough to check my timing the other day with a light. It was no where near where I would have guessed. With it to the head at idle it was 14. With the ksb switched on I was at 21. This
After I added a m&h spacer. After that experience of watching someone check my timing with a light, I think I'll give up on guessing hahaha. I was told a tooth is worth 10 degrees, so if I jump a tooth with my timing to the head I'd be at 24 degrees I suppose. Ksb might bring me up to 31! If my basic mathematics is on par.

How does one check it with a light?

Stomp used what looked like a digital timing light hooked up to this clamp looking sensor that went around the number one injector line. Quite simple. I'm sure you could buy the associated hardware to go along with a standard timing light. It might be something worth looking into. I'm actually kinda interested. He also marked Top Dead Center on my crank for future references. Who would of ever though a diesel guy would want a timing light???? Now that I'm thinking about it, a well informed one would.

I've got a light. Been as far as hooking it up and toying with it on the truck.

I've never gotten around to making and installing a degree-tape around the harmonic damper.

Screw it. I'm setting the timing based on dyno graphs. Then I'll install the tape and see where it's at. (I said that last time  ).

Thanks. Is your truck intercooled or non intercooled?

That explains it. A buddy of mine has a 93' and with the pump turned all the way up and with a fuel pin, he could only hit a 1000 degrees. Thats a pretty good drop in temps. Then again any drop is a good drop when it comes to egts.

By email. It's the only way. Really simple, I just ordered a timing spacer through them.
