H1C parts

Postby Billy Bones » Sat Sep 22, 2012 2:25 pm

So I'm new here and trying to figure out how to search for things I hope I'm not duplicating things. I need parts for my H1C I don't know what the retainer washer is called but I found a kit on ebay that has it

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Turbo-Repair-Re ... %26ps%3D54

If there's a better place to purchase or from someone on the site I would appreciate the help thanks. I don't know how to post a picture here so if a pic would help let me know.

I get mine from these guys
http://gpopshop.com/
I buy only the complete kits when I do a turbo. If your going to do it, do it completely.

Check these guys out for H1C parts, you can get exactly what you need or a complete kit for a good price:
http://baeturbosystems.com/servicekit4027309.aspx

They also sell a nice upgrade kit for the hx35 with a polished housing cheaper than anyone else I've found:

Yeah, glad it helps. Seems like their rebuild kits are pretty good deal - $20-$25 less than other sites I've looked at. Bought my last kit from Gpop, but will try these guys next time.

Did you mark the turbine wheel to it's housing, then the compressor wheel to the back plate?
By doing it that way, you set the marks on the turbine side where they were, then simply line up the compressor wheel to the mark on the backing plate.
Easy as pie.

If you doubt it's in balance, make sure you grease or lube the center with oil, then set the turbo on a hard surface, preferably a heavy steel bench (DO NOT SECURE IT DOWN!), then blow compressed air into the exhaust housing.
If it chatters noticeably on the bench, it's out of balance, loosen the nut on the compressor wheel and move it around and re-tighten, then test again.

Generally, I've found that if it doesn't vibrate noticeably unsecured on a hard surface, the balance is "close enough".

Trust me, if it's out of balance, the turbo rattling, or humming, on the steel bench will tell you!

Mark.

I haven't had one that wouldn't balance, but I'm told there are places that balance them for reasonable.
Contrary to what some believe, most of the more recent turbos are component balanced instead of assembly balanced, so chances are that they won't need to be re-balanced if they are dis-assembled.

If there is physical damage to the compressor wheel, it SHOULD always be replaced.
