turbo ??

Postby D-dog357 » Mon Jan 07, 2013 9:45 pm

My ol' truck - 92 250 ex-cab w/slush - has the 21cm pig on it and I have a complete 18cm non-ic to swap in. I will be towing a 5-6k trailer cross country soon and want to keep it cool on the hills.

By the time I head out the pump will be set at - Smoke in 3/4, star down 1, fuel to the collar and a 366. Should I just go ahead and do the swap or wait till I can afford a 16cm housing and make the run the way it is?

Thanks for any advice you might have.

Either a 12cm or a 16 is way better than what you have. An 18 is not worth changing to, not small enough to make a difference.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Thanks Toombs, That's what I thought but it never hurts to ask - at least not too much.

Your 21 cm turbo has a 54 mm compressor, the non intercooled turbo has a 50 mm compressor. Thats why i mentioned a turbine housing swap.

Remps, Thanks for taking the time to explain. I was considering doing a total swap as was recommended on another site.

Nice to get detailed info in a reply - thanks again.
