Sounds like an injector problem, or sucking air from somewhere.

Did you DRIVE it?
I agree with RCC, it acts like air or injectors.

Even at that, you tore down an injection pump, re-sealed it and put it back together and IT RUNS!
Not bad for a first timer! 8)

Sounds like sucking air or a lack of fuel.
I didn't realize the threads were that bad from the 1st pic. Must be it doesn't leak, good job!

Haha well im not impressed with my job on it yet. It has 10 psi lift pump pressure so i dont think its fuel pressure. It idles just fine except when i give it some throttle... I have a bad feeling about timing... I hope it didnt skip a gear...

Easy to find out, just turn it one way or the other and see if it runs better. Towards the head advances it and away is retarded. Try moving it away 1st and see if it's better, and go from there.

Is there a way i can look through the oil fill spot in front of the ip gear and look down to see if I accidentally skipped a tooth or something on the timing gears? If I did skip a tooth i really don't want to pull the timing cover because i have it seal up good from resealing that a few years ago.. I'll try rotating the pump and seeing what it does tomorow. I have lost interest in it for today.

If you popped the gear loose through the oil filler hole and DIDN'T remove the tin timing cover, chances are you're good on the tooth timing.
I don't think you CAN skip teeth if you did it that way.

When the exhaust is poppy sounding does that mean advanced timing?

Would popping be retarded or advanced?

Timing sounds retarded (no pun... Wait, what am I talking about???).

Mark, it might be possible if the gear move up and to the right if you are looking at it from the front. He may have skipped a gear tooth OR his throttle shaft isn't lined up right.

I think it skipped a tooth because i think the dot on the cam gear is supposed to be in those letters? What you guys thinking?
