Yeah. Here is when I first got it.

Then I threw on some 37s and rebuilt the Getrag.

Drove it like this for a while. Even with the knock which started a month after I bought it.

Shortened it and bobbed a swb bed.

Found a 55.2 Chevy Truck at the junk yard and have been working on a cab swap for a long time now. Ready to drive it but decided to fix the knock.

That's going to be cool when done.

I installed the injection pump one tooth advanced. I lined the 0 on the cam up with the C on the IP gear instead of the E. I then fully retarded my IP. What do y'all think the equivalent advance I have now?

One tooth advance is 10° advanc, thats 0 to E, if you then retarded the pump then you should have your timing a fuzz lower than stock. At least with the marks on my case thats how it would be.

I thought 0 to E was stock injection pump setting. I thought 0 to C was one tooth advanced.

It is.... .....I get confused sometimes.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12083&p=94085&hilit=rotation+of+pump+gear#p94085
But that's gonna be the only thing I was wrong on,it will be retarded from stock if you backed the pump all the way on it's slotted holes. As I said as far as me and my veiw of the marks on my timing cover/pump base

WITH rotation retards, AGAINST rotation advances.
So in this case, if the pump gear rotates CCW, you want to jump it a tooth CLOCKWISE to advance timing.

Here is a picture of my cam and pump relation.

So your telling me that a one tooth advance and a close to fully retarded pump has less advance than stock? Does anyone now how to time these pumps with an actual gauge? I would like to know the exact timing.

Signs of life!

I got it installed and cranked it up. It sounds super retarded though. You can tell it needs more advancing. I am thinking about advancing another tooth instead of advancing the pump. I can get the front cover off quicker than it would take to loosen all my injection pump lines. I also like the pump being in the retarded position because I can get to the idle screw and full power screw easier.

My current setting are one tooth advanced and a fully retarded pump position.
I would like to have the timing setup to an 1/8th bump on stock setting. I hate flying in the dark on this. I really should buy the proper dial indicator to set the timing. I still wouldn't know what lift to set it at for 1/8" advanced.

I have heard that to the head on stock setting is 10 deg advanced.
I also heard 1/8" bump on stock setting is like 5-6 deg advanced.
I am not really certain what the tooth skipping and fully retarded pump produce.

I got the dial indicator out last night and it was retarded. The pump lift at TDC was supposed to be 1.25mm or 0.049". Mine was 0.030" so I advanced it to 0.050" or 1.27" which is close enough for me. I will mark it there and bump it 1/8" when I start doing power mods. It ran good and I like how I can get to the idle screw and full power screw easier.

Set it to 1.85mm of lift. The guy at the pump shop told me that's the optimum timing for a daily driver/ slight hot rod truck. When you get into big injectors and stuff then you have to adjust accordingly. When I set mine 1/8th it was close to 1.65mm.
I love having the timing tool. 8) Only bad thing is I have an american gauge and have to convert to metric to know where I am. Small price to pay. ;)

Ok I will do that here soon. What do you mean adjust it when you get bigger injectors? I plan on possibly getting som 5x12s. Also where do you get the tool that thread into the pump. I spent most of my time with the dial indicator trying to set up the magnetic base.
