Fuel pin is not doing much control of fuel

Postby 76 fummins » Wed Mar 06, 2013 10:26 pm

I have no boost running to the injection pump right now to try and clean up the smoke that didn't work. So I took the fuel pin out and replaced it will an 8mm deep socket relatively the same size as the fuel pin. I don't have an aftermarket pin to turn around. anyway no diff. still smokes like crazy. So Im not sure if the guide rod is stuck or what. I figured stuck in would be the opposite no smoke or boost. I have 3200 spring pump turned up and 6x16s.

with the pump turned up and 6x16's, its going to smoke when ya get on the skinny pedal, but not have much top end go, unless the former owner of the truck did away with the afc lever inside the pump. i had 7x15's in my truck last year, and it would smoke doing the same thing with the socket in place of the fuel pin. can you tell a difference in the way it runs with the boost line hooked up and with it not hooked up?

It's because you have such a large injector. When I disable my afc, like you did... I can still get over 20# of boost. Some can still get 40, that just depends on how big of an injector you have.

I have an air solenoid on a switch that i have flipped back and for no difference that i can tell. It will run 55psi either way. Controlling the fuel with the skinny is kind of a pain with 35s and 3.55 gears but if thats how it has to be with these injectors i can live with it. Is an auto any easyier to control the smoke.

Did someone take out your afc lever at some point?

just because it is a "reman" doesnt mean its always good. the "new guy" could have put it together. ive found this out several times.

If your fueling doesn't change with anything you do with the fuel pin, inclduing blocking it off like you said.

Pretty much the only thing that could be is the afc lever is missing.

Is there something I am missing?

Maybe your turbo isn't big enough for those injectors? Fill out your sig so we know what you are working with.
