Postby Theredbeast » Mon Mar 25, 2013 7:05 am

my tappet cover is leaking and i was going to make my own billet one but i wasnt sure whats under it? is there any critical parts or pockets inside there? and do i need a breather or will a 3/4 inch npt outlet with a hose work the same?

It's not something you just make a cover for.
It's baffled inside, supposedly to help it not leak out the vent tube.

If you put a secondary vent somewhere else and a vent on the tappet cover as high as is feasible, depending on blowby, it PROBABLY won't leak.
No guarantees.

IIRC, the baffle was removeable on the 92 I had. I don't see why it couldn't be made to attach to the new cover. But, given where it is at, I don't any good reason to do it. Need to remeber to leave enough room for some of the hardware and brackets for the fuel injection pump, too.

It is sealed with a rubber piece that fits around the perimeter of the tin cover. Pretty simple setup. My old one was cracked and hard as a rock.
