just bought my first 1st gen 1992 w250

Postby benbo30 » Thu Mar 28, 2013 10:34 am

ok so a couple questions , I just bought my first 1st gen , w250 automatic with a dually conversion and flatbed .... well recently i.just found out that my head gasket is leaking in front corner under thermo. housing , so I've called a few shops to do the head gasket , well here is what im thinking since its.already gonna be at the shop I was looking into doing injectors , killer dowl pin , fuel pin and gov. spring.

injectors wise Im thinking ddp stage 2 75hp , will the stock turbo handle them or ?
I am planning on doing a turbo in future .

this is will be daily driver / tow rig

Welcome to the site. Honestly if it were me I would just have the headgasket fixed and save for a built transmission. Being an auto it won't take much more then stock HP.

IMO DDPs aren't worth the money.

Your stock injectors will be able to support all the fuel your stock turbo can handle... if you turn the pump up.

What's your overall goals with the truck? I'd mess with the "free mods" and see if you want more power before spending that much on inj/turbo.

also gauges are.on the way , has straight exhaust but will be upgrading to 4 inch I think the one on truck is.stock pieced together to get rid of.muffler.

basically im just wanting to make a good tow rig , but would like some power too ...as far as transmission goes plan is to find a donor w250 & 5 speed swap it

Do studs and maybe O-ring the head, Cummins HG and install gauges. Then turn up the fuel and see how it goes.
