will a high volume low pressure piston lift pump hold flow and pressure as the rpms increase or do i need to look more at a pressure regulated return fuel system?

Will it supply 6x.016" injectors? Absolutely not.
What size injectors do you plan on running when all is said and done? That will determine what fuel supply you need.
It's not a thing of pressure so much as it is volume. If you can't keep up with the demand of volume, the pressure will drop.
