timing= what degree ?

Wondering what is considered what degree of timing when advancing the pump? I was observing under my hood and happened to look at my timing marks. I have the pump gear advanced 1 tooth and my factory marks lined up. So curious as to how much degrees per tooth and roughly and 1/8"!

Timing light or indicator tool are really the only sure fire ways of know where your really at.

But as BC847 and some others have pointed out dyno time is a good way to fine tune which timing works best for you.

What may feel good seat of the pants, may look terrible on a dyno print out. I should know I've ether been under, or over timed. Lol.

It seems to be about 1/8" equals about 3 degrees worth of sweep. 1 tooth equals 10.

On MOST trucks a tooth skipped and retarded an 1/8 equals stock marks and to the head.

From personal experience it seems that every 15 bar worth of pop pressure equals about 3 degrees. 15 bar is the difference between ve pump and p pump pop pressure (245 vs 260)
