:D ....my brother took his 73 Charger to a friend of ours to get redone and that was 4 years ago....my brother was hoping it would be done in a year......lol....only good thing about it is it's getting done right, and he's not in a hurry for it.

Their are a few companies making kits now with paint supplies. I've heard good things about Summits paint.

Eastwoods stuff is expensive, period! You can get a decent name brand paint and the proper supplies from a good autoparts store usually. The name brand paint is the important thing, it's better quality and if it screws up the seller can tell you what you did wrong or how to correct it.
If you are using a regular old paint gun, keep the pressure up around 70psi for the silver, it makes the metallics stand up on edge and shows better. And like was said, silver will show if it isn't applied even. A friend of mine said silvers are the hardest to match when painting because it's so easy to get a slight shade difference, even air pressure will change it.

Maybe do the body work, then find someone to shoot it for you. There has to be somebody around who can do it, painting is the easy part, it just needs some practice though. ;)

I just bought the "hot rod" black kit from eastwoods at Christmas for the boys 67 GMC and it was
cheaper than federated auto and a good discount. haven't sprayed it yet though.

Dar,how long till you spray it? I'd like to know how it does.

I'm leaning towards their black epoxy primer and satin black hot rod stuff......for kind of a starter/practice paint job.

I wish I could tell ya, my boy seems to be more interested in playing x-box war games than getting the truck
done, I'm just about to loose it with this situation.

don't wait on me man, you can do it...just try to have a pretty clean spot to spray.

to look and act just like me, we sure don't share the same interests.

A little..... Mostly just trying to get rid of the "new" rust formations that ol'cod sack made for me and covering it up with some rattle can etching primer.
I have some pics I need to post up..... :)

That sucks. What about using something like this to get rid of the rust?

That bondo will all have to come off. It's porous and sucks up water like a sponge. If you sand off the rust spot and paint over the bondo you'll have rust coming thru in a few months.
Nice of him to grind it with a 40 grit wheel on the grinder and then leave it. Most of that surface rust will sand right off and be good to go. I use a Metalprep to kill the rust before I paint it, seems to work ok. A body guy I know told me to prime the bare metal with epoxy primer to seal it, then bondo and body work after that. The epoxy seals it under the bondo so it won't rust like yours did, even if it gets a scratch thru the paint, the metal is protected.
