The AD kit I have was supplied with 1/2" lines. You need to change the pick up in the tank one way or another as the stock pick-up is tiny. You dont really need a filter in tank. The AD kit will filter out anything that gets sucked up. Also there is a large screened filter on the AD inlet for the larger debris. As far as my system, I did as Bill did and blasted a 1/2" hole in the bottom of the tank and used the proper fitting to seal things up. Works awsome and the more fuel you have in the tank the more pressure you have pushing the fuel to the lift pump. As far as the return line the stock one should work fine. The AD unit has its own return line so most of the excess fuel is returned by the AD directly.

ok so why did you put a hole in the bottom of the tank?

The hole in the bottom is to reduce the lift pump's head.

Then again, the bottom of the tank is farther from the lift pump than the top of the tank. And even if the drawtube is in the very bottom of the tank, the fuel in the tank is going to help push fuel up the drawtube like a barometer. So I don't believe that it reduces the lift pump's head at all.

If you really want to be slick, you put the hole in the back of the bottom of the tank; that way, when you accelerate, the fuel pushes back into the hose instead of the pump having to fight the acceleration.

No on my truck the line is shorter from the bottom of the tank as there is no pickup at all and my lift pump is mounted on the frame rail. As far as there being pressure at the inlet of the AD there would be as the top of the tank sits even with the top of the rails and my pump inlet is mounted lower so anything over 1/3 - 1/2 tank there is fuel pressure against the pump. I dont think any of this really makes that much of a difference though. Really any oversized pickup will help.

As far as doing the new pick-up just follow the pics and directions in the sticky on DTR. They are really good and explain almost everything. I know you said you looked but read over them some more.
