DCP 275HP injectors??

Postby jb » Thu Apr 23, 2009 2:09 am

Has anyone had any experience with DCP 275HP injectors??

I was also looking at their pumps as well but I'm open to sujestions.
( I have a 0 460 426 114 pump)

I'm looking for 275-300HP mostly for towing 10k trailers, any sugestions on turbo upgrades ect are welcome.

i dont got no experience with them but i would go with new era 370 for a good cheap injector, or dinomite diesel stage 4

as far as the pump if its not wore out i would just turn rhe screw in a little

pdr diesel has good turbo upgrades, theyre cheaper than a hole turbo.

the last thing i would do is intercool it

i would get boost and pyrometer guages if you dont already have them

someone else can fill you in more

New Era 370's, an HX40 (or S300), a piston lift pump, and an intercooler. A better clutch might be in order as well.

275 to 300 on a stock clutch is fine. Pete ran his 388 dyno with a stock clutch. He had to change it because he was rough with it. My 93 must be atleast 275 and the stock clutch will hold it. I don't slip or ride the clutch.

I was under the impression that it will have a 10K trailer behind it most of the time. I know a stock clutch can hold 300rwhp of just puttering around town, but I would think a better one would be in order for towing 10K all the time.

You can get 300 hp out of your stock injectors pretty easy. If you are going to be towing 10K at that power level you WILL need to add an intercooler to keep things cool, and probably a better turbo. I would spend my money on those two things first. I'm still running stock non-intercooled sticks, my HP is in my sig.

first thing i would do is put a gov spring in it

if you are gonna follow their rec (ddp 3 or 4) and tune the pump you are prolly gonna overshoot your goal and will have to put a clutch in it

i think a hx-35 (54mmx58mm) works better than anythng at 300 hp

i just sold my injectors but have a aftermarket clutch and a 35 i could sell ya if you are interested in good used parts

make it a great night

It is my understanding that in a tow rig, you don't really want to mess with the pump too much. EGT's get out of control too fast with the fuel screw turned.

Yeah, throw a 366 sring at her too.

Depends on the turbo. My 91 had a PDR HX35 and it stayed within reason, towing and empty. It DID get hot at about 75mph outside Springfield MO one time, towing Bill's donor rig, but that was also about 2800rpm, 40psi boost- out of the turbo map. The 91 had spent its entire life pulling either a 40ft gooseneck w/tractors, or a 4-horse trailer with a rather large living quarter the 250K before I got it.

Get some guages, like mentioned, but add fuel pressure to the list. I know in an IC truck, the diaphragm is marginal on a stock truck, bet it's about the same with the bigger sticks in a nonIC truck.

Get your injectors checked, and see where they're at.

You're on a good track with the D80 and 4" exhaust. Opinions vary on the NV4500, so I wont go there.

If you add fuel, either with injectors or with the fuel screw it's gonna get hot. More fuel is more fuel.

i wonder if jb, when he saw the ad for the 275 horse injectors, thought that meant you end up with 275 hp

as in total

at the rear wheels

if so jb you are very mistaken - those are supposed to produce 275 hp above and beyond stock

whats a stock first gen make anyways? gotta be close to 100 hp

lol

Hi guys

I'm looking for about 275-300HP total, honestly I was pretty happy with the stock truck with just the few mods I did (4" exhaust, gauges, pump turned up two turns) I did notice that the truck runs out of breath on the top end so the only other thing I really wanted was a bigger turbo.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To be clear, I have:

4" exhaust
new nv4500
Sachs(spelling?) 13" clutch
dana 80 (power lok) 3.54 gears
pump turned up 2 turns
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to do:

Gear Vendors splitter
"366" spring
fuel pressure gauge
intercooler
1480 U joints (rear)
turbo upgrade

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A question for all........

If I send out my injectors to have them checked/fixed who should I send them to???

Can I send them my pump as well???

Thanks
JB
