2nd Gen Lift pump??

I was wondering i i could run a second gen lift pump with a bypass regulator on my 1st gen? The reason i am asking i have a 2nd gen with a hole in the block in the shop so i was thinking of using the lift pump. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Yep, the 2nd Gen piston pump with a regulator will work, and be able to support over 400rwhp.

The VE doesn't like more than 20psi. I would try to keep the fuel pressure around 15psi.

you could also get a softer spring from carter instead of a $200 reg from jegs

2nd gen lp's are nice cuz they have a larger bore and better fittings than the p/n cummins recommends for the first gen

yea, the one that makes 15 psi instead of 30

not off the top of my head but i have seen a post somewheres with the part numbers, color codes, and pressures

I haven't, I thought you had already done this and might have a part # handy. I'll try searching...

if you can afford the reg and to plumb it that is a nicer way to do it

just keep the pressure at around 20 psi, return whats not used back to the tank, and your system wont even know there is a spring in the pump

ps - should make more power like that but you can spend a few hundred bucks real quick on a bypass reg and plumbing
