GT4088R?

Postby Remps » Sat May 09, 2009 12:02 am

I was looking at the garrett site today, and at a 2.7 pressure ratio,60 lbs a minute for 425 rwhp(is what I calculated)the GT4088R with a .85 ar turbine housing looked just right on the compressor map. Will the T4 inlet flange work or would it have to be adapted somehow?I know they are expensive,I just want one. :P

You need a T3 flange.

I think it'll be tolerable.I don't drive around town much anyway, mostly highway.I figured it would be a good high speed/low temp turbo also. One size smaller at 425 rwhp is almost off the compressor map.I plan on buying a 4X4 and this will be my hot rod eneways.

Just making sure he knew that he couldn't just bolt a T4 up to his truck.

You'll also need an oil restrictor and need to plumb in water lines, the ball bearing garretts are water cooled. I'm pretty sure with a 77 mm turbine wheel its going to take you a long time to spool it. the 3788r is sold as an upgrade for 2nd and 3rd gens and has the t3, and everything you need. It's a 63.5/72.5

The ball bearing turbos have a built in oil restrictor. The compressor map on that 3788R looks even better then the 4088R.Wider range bottom and top.So any turbo with a T3 flange will bolt to the stock exhaust manifold?(Although if I spent the money on this turbo,I'd get a manifold too)

Yep, a T3 flange will bolt up.
