LP question...

Postby MMeier » Wed Oct 07, 2009 11:07 am

... is it possible for the LP to suck oil into the fuel system, yet not have fuel get into the oil ?? :?

there shouldent be any oil actually bathing the lp only oil flung off of the cam if its a diphragm style some oil can get on to the arm that contacts the cam but that arm is seal off of the diagfram itself ...other wise fuel would leak into the crankcase as well ....i could be wrong hopefully someone else will chime in

No, because even in diaphragm failure mode, the fuel side will have positive pressure differential, sending fuel to the crankcase. I suppose it is not outside the realm of possibilty for that to be reversed in the case of an engine with some extreme blowby condition going on. But then you'd have bigger problems to worry about.

No. It's the same as a gasser fuel pump. Just a diaphragm that goes up and down, pushing and pulling. When it gets a tear, it just pushes fuel into the base.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Man, a sentence with diaphram, up, down, pushing, pulling, tear in it. He may be talking about a lift pump but his mind is elswhere. :D
