Hushpower Monster truck runs a 727. Not sure how much power it gets to the ground, but I know the trans can handle the 900 hp that the engine made on an engine dyno. Cole ran 98 mph in the 1/8th mile with his 518 (non lockup) and a Spec Rite converter.....calculators put him at about 700 hp at the wheels based on his trap speed. Finally Tom Collins put down 587 with his 1st gen through a 727 with nitrous and w/m.
If you plan on being over 500rwhp with traction I would upgrade to a steel planetary and billet input.
Hope this helps.
PS--I plan on bettering my 448 number, but it won't be for another few weeks at least. I'll let you know after that how much mine can hold
