What's really scary is some of the pics of the kdp fix floating around on the net, those coat hanger tabs would worry me. Just bugger up the end of the hole!

Now THAT'S amusing!
Another thing to worry your heads about:
When severely neglected (and noises missed/ignored) the early vacuum pumps will come apart and spit the ball bearings into the case, doing all sorts of damage, including breaking the cam.
It's a LOVELY sight to see. BTW, when I pulled the pan and cover off that one, there were actually 4 ball bearings already in the pan, 4 in various places in the timing case and another 3 in the pump, still.
