a spacer, 2 gaskets, the line to block sealing washers, the fuel line from the pump to the filter and a die grinder to take some of the insulation off. i think thats it.

Wrong pump with incorrect pressure. You will need a bypass regulator to control the inlet pressure to the injection pump.

Can I pull all that crap of of the 2nd gen motor? I've heard you can change the spring to correct the pressure, anyone got a part number for that?

I am wondering the same thing! I have a 2nd gen lift pump and want to swap out the spring to make it a VE friendly low-pressure pump. I have read the thread on here concerning piston lift pumps..........no real answer to the question. :?

From what I gather the one guy who swapped springs had BOTH pumps so I dont think the pump is considered a "serviceable" unit. But if you could find a rebuild kit for the other pump it should have the spring in it. On a side note the 2nd gen lift pump is very usable on our trucks you just have to run a boost ref. regulator. While those arent cheap it would make for a better overall fuel system IMO.

Yeah, I do realize that I have the option of using my 2nd gen lift pump and just regulating it. I would really like to see pictures of 2nd gen high pressure lift pump installation with regulator. Pictures really help...........

Great write up by BC847 http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/say-ref-piston-lift-pump-t176472.html?t=176472

Has some pics and REALLY shows the difference between the two pumps

What y'all think about loctiting the front seal, and just running the 2nd gen piston pump W/O regulator?

wooo! finally got that to work as u can see its not pretty (whole set up is from parts i found when cleaning the shop) but i have 3/8 parker line running from my tank to the pump then 3/8 after the regulator to a banjo bolt / fitting i found, the boost line runs from a fitting off the side of the head and the bypassed fuel is "t"'ed into my return line works good keeps a steady 15 psi and 20 ish when i really stomp on it

thats my truck by the way (never got the picture thing to work before)

getting confued quick here ........ the 6320 or 702 pump is the low pressure piston pump that does not require a seperate regulator, correct ? :?

The 6320 pump does not need a regulator it is a low pressure pump but also has a smaller piston so it moves less volume. Seems to have a different PSI on different trucks. Im sure that is a direct result of how each truck is set up. The 2nd gen pump puts out a higher pressure then we need so with a pressure regulator each truck can set the pressure to where they want it.

Hope that makes sense, basically the 6320 is a huge upgrade to stock and the stock 2nd gen pump is an upgrade to the 6320.
