Drive Pressure Gauge

Postby lectro_static » Tue Jun 29, 2010 8:04 pm

Will this work for a drive pressure gauge?

http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugedetai ... 240&sid=12

I was told I should get one installed, autometer doesnt seem to make a "drive pressure" gauge so since I want my gauges to match Im hoping........ What do I need to know about installing a drive pressure gauge, is it just 6' or 1/4" metal line coiled, a filter of some sort and your good?

hey-Hey!!!,
Seems to me what you seek to avoid is delivery of hot exhaust to the sensitive gage and/or line feeding it. Your suggestion of a good length of metal tubing ought to serve quite well.
cheers,

Guys take about 1-3ft of copper tubing, make a coil, and attach a plastic line to it.The copper coils help to cool the air before the plastic.

it measures pressure .
so as long as you can keep the heat out of the guage i can't see why it wouldn't work .

Just use another auto meter boost gauge like you already have in your truck.

they also throw a little 1/8" gas line fuel filter after the copper to help keep soot out of the gauge. i have also hear of people taking a 1/2" copper pipe about 1 1/2" long with compression fittings that reduce down to 1/8" and fill teh tube with steel wool to collect the soot. thats the way i will do it when my gauges come in
