There was a red 1 ton with a header in the mag. Said it was used for towin. I think they'd help spool up but would need something on the outside to keep the heat in.

With the high egt's and thin wall stainless I doubt it would be practical for a daily driver. Kinda on the weak side for my liking but might be a good fix for a track or pull truck. I wonder if they lower your egt's with the design ?

You will only need it if you are pushing more than 4o psi of boost and have around 500hp on the low end.

By going to a tubular manifold like that, you lose both velocity and heat of the exhaust gases, both essential to making a turbo work. So once this is added, more lag and less boost with the same, if not higher, EGT's.

Headers will drop EGT anywhere from 100 to 200 degrees from what I've seen, but I'm not exactly sure why. Power is usually up a little but not much (maybe 5-10hp) but you do lose some exhaust pressure, although not near enough to keep anything but 70+mm turbos from spooling. If I were ever to get one, it would be mainly cause they look badass. :D

They drop heat because they transfer heat quickly to the surrounding air due to the thin wall material. I think if you wrapped them with high temp header wrap you would keep the heat and performance.

Anybody know the cost of them?

The guy quoted me $950 and another $200 for ceramic coating. he also said they are .120 wall tubing, so theyre not real thin walled. also said they weight 30 pounds.

If you get a set get the coated and then wrap them with header tape, that will hold the heat in for you

Now, will retaining too much heat (ceramic and wrap) cause it to warp and crack the weld or pipe? :?:

I have read that wrapping ANY header will eventually lead to stress cracks, because the wrap retains so much heat it fatigues the metal, even the inconel and titanium exhaust. wrapping voids the warranties on the few companies that offer them for their headers.

True, all depends how long it takes.

A good ceramic coat would probably be sufficiant.
