odd vibration on my trk not under any engine load

it developed this today when i was bringin my gf over to hang out. i was drivin along an i came up to a red light and when i slowed to 30 i hear this odd noise and when i got to 25 it stopped completely. so i didnt worry too much about it till later i just stayed off the throttle as much as i could thinkin possible u joint. so when i took her home it seemed to have gotted better but was still there. on my way back i rolled the window down to see if i could possibly diag it. well at low speeds 17 to 25 if you give it a blip of throttle it will do it when it comes down off rev but only sometimes. and when you slow down it wont do it lots till 30 then goes away at 25. to me it kinda sounds like somethin rubbin like a tire on something. but i checked the tires an they are all clear. but i can hear somethin rubbin in the rear thinkin maybe a rock guard near the drum. anyone have any ideas. trk has 160k on it all u joints are greasable and seen grease 2.5 weeks ago and only about 700 miles since then. im just completely confused by it. i know the ring an pinion is needin replaced but i dont think it would cause this. the noise doesnt sound like its comein from the inside of something

Check drive-shaft carrier bearing.

I was thinking carrier bearing also but I thought 4x4 didn't have one?

Only the extended cabs and long cab and chassis Pete. His 727 equipped truck won't unless its a long wheelbase cab and chassis.

i found the problem and it was the carrier bearing, but hte one in the axle. the ring gear can be moved left and right almost a qtr inch. the pinion is missin some parts of teeth and i cant find any replacement gears so now im jus tlookin for 2 axles with 354 gears in them if anyone knows of any plz let me know, its my only vehicle and it needs fixed

Your not going to like 3.54's with a 3 speed. You should have the 3.08's and they can be hard to find. I passed one up 6 months ago for under 200 bucks. When I needed one for my 89 I had to spend a grand and it still took me a month to find that one.

i got a 14 bolt rearend now and it has 373 in it, i know it will suck but im plannin a 5 spped swap this summer
