new here.. power window question

Postby cumminsbo87 » Wed Jun 08, 2011 2:02 pm

hey guys ive been a long time looker, and seems like parts for these old trucks can be hard to find. My problem is the track? i guess you'd call it that is glued to the bottom of the window has rotted off. were do i get a new one.? all i can find are new regulators that dont show that piece with it? do they come with the windows? idk were to look besides a junk yard.

almost sounds like it would be easier to just buy a whole new door. or maybe just buy a window out of a junk truck with that piece already glued on. either way its hot outside and i hate drivin around not bein able to hang my arm out or go threw drive threws without having to reach around the door lol.

You will have to replace the entire window if it's like all the GM windows I've had to replace because of that.

Dumb answer - but could you just cut off a piece of old tire and put on there?

i dont think so... i could probley made something similar to the rotted piece, but i figured it had to be just right or the window wouldnt work good. Actually for the past year i had to help it up. Right now if i touch the button the window just falls down in the door, i then can manually pull it up and put the wheels (at the end of the lift arms) under it to hold it in the up position. ALL this happend because the weatherstripping is gone tho! needless to say im putting new on if i get the damn window fixed.
