No power

Postby dazedandconfused » Mon Jun 20, 2011 4:52 pm

I posted this in my thread project ugly duckling detailed. If someone could copy and paste that over here I'd really appreciate it. Short of it is I have no power to anything but the 4 way flashers. It's all 93 wiring harness. Any ideas?

I checked the fuses with my multi meter and nothing. No headlights, no movement of any gauges nothing. The only thing that works is the 4 way flashers. Anybody got any ideas? There is an orange wire under the hood that I believe had a fusable link in it that's gone so I jumped the wires. Was agrevated so called it quits for the night. Everything is pluged in. The computer isn't mounted to the fender and I didn't put the abs box in it. Someone give me an idea.

Ok I went back out and don't see any grounds under the dash. I bolted the dash in and the steering colum and I still have nothing but flashers. Nothing else works anywhere.

Maybe The big back wire that powers the Y shaped block that feeds the fuse links. Looks like my truck has a barrel connector in that wire, might be there.

I'll have to look tomorrow since it's almost dark out. I'm not getting any power to the fuse box it appears from my quick probe of the fuses. Leads me to believe there is an issue in the bulkhead plug or before.

When I first saw the title, I thought "needs bigger injectors/turbo".

Other than that, I am of no help. :bom:

Lol I'm gonna mess with it when I get home. Take a little closer look at everything in the engine bay.

Got the connector at the firewall all squared and tightened down correctly?
There are wiring grounds at the core support and behind the head, also.
Under the dash there's a gold irridite plate that's attached to the dash frame, attached to it are wiring grounds.
Make sure your dash is tight. :D

Pull on the fusible links, anything that stretches is burned.

Mark.

Well of course it started storming soon as I pulled in the driveway. If it stops raining I'll do some searching. The grounds are on the core support but I need to double check the ones on the cab.

Well fighting rain drops I went out and looked at a few things. Grounds weren't attached at fire wall so attached them and still nothing. Pulled bulkhead plug again and started testing for voltage. I grounded at the battery and probed each pin. Only one pin had power at all and it was 12Vs.

This is that Orange wire that was unhooked when I put it back it. This wire was just twisted together before.
