More power

Postby rrfarm » Sat Sep 03, 2011 6:29 pm

Hey guys new to the site and was told you all could help. I have a 92 W-350, Diesel, 5spd, 4x4. I'm doing a complete rebuild of the truck including a crew cab conversion. The truck is completely stripped down at this moment. What I need help with is I would like to have about 300 to 350 horsepower. How would be the best way to accomplish this? P-pump or VE, injectors and size, and turbo. Money is an issue so try to give me the most cost effective route if you can. Thanks in advance.

pee pump would probably give you a more streetable 300 hp, but sticking with the ve is more fun. a set of guages, 4 inch exhaust, free flowing intake, turn the pump up with a 3200 gov spring, some 5x.012 or .014 injectors, a turbo (62/65/12 or 14) and some of tim's cooler tubz, and grind on yer afc pin. that should make ya pretty happy, i used to have this simaler set up and my turb ran a 14.5 in the 1/4, using the hp calculator on comp d put me at about 330ish to the ground. i was able to tow with it but i can get a little warm. you will want to upgrade yer clutch too.

Let me ask another question. While we are talking more power how much power can you safely make without having to start beefing up the block? Thanks

No, you will need head studs for 350. Not really " need " but the head gasket will be on its way out.

With the setup i mentioned above, i never blew a head gasket, i had the waste gate set at 40 psi. But every truck is differnet, i didnt blow any gaskets till i started shooting water too it. But studs will give you a peace of mind.
