I'm hoping the aftermarket Hamilton head does well. I'd like to build a nice motor for the duck everntually.

I saw that Andy... Pulling orgs though don't like aftermarket heads but we will see how this affects performance and rules.

Now, as for the VE low end fueling problems, I have a few internal adjustments I am gonna be making...

The head won't matter with my little truck since it's just a sleeper,dd,street pounder.

Ok, since this project is in serious jepordy of derailing, I made the decision to try and keep it on the tracks today

After spending the day looking at cams and cam swaps and thinking about pulling the head, I reminded myself of my last big block project in this truck. it was fun, but lots of time and money! SOOOO....

Since this is also a cummins ford conversion with other stuff going on (NV4500 rebuild) I decided to not get to drastic with the motor yet. Cut my teeth and go from there. I have a very strong feeling I will be looking for a p-pump motor to get a little more into for my other truck!

Borg Warner S300G turbo is the shop! Now I can start sourcing my HX40 exhaust flange and elbows etc for my down pipe.
So as it sits it is basically a stock setup with a S300G upgrade.

Current:
S300G, stock unground fuel pin, 366 spring, 60lb valve springs, KDP kit,1stgen IC.

Soon to be ordered or made (I am a fabricator):
HX40 exhaust Flange, 4 inch downpipe and exhaust, low pressure piston lift pump, 1/2" fuel lines from tank, Cooler tubz type intake pipes, Cold air kit, pyro gage.

Anything I am missing as far as an immediate upgrade needed?

I also have money for injectors, but want to get it running first. Bosch 190's or DD stage I or II?

Again, not a HP monster but a good reliable tow rig.

BRONCMAN......I did not have good luck with the lp piston pump...there are a lot of mixed views on this subject, but i could run mine down to o psi at wot, I went with the walbro 392 and set the regulator at 14 psi and now at wot the needle doesn't even wiggle. I'm just sayin do some more reading on that one. the whole thing cost about 225 bucks. good luck on your build.

Ellis, I did not get to talk to him in person, but he was the one who recommended the s300 since I do not plan to go crazy with the fuel. We will see how it does.

Thanks for the advice crewcab. I have a holley pump that I was going to feed the lift pump with. I will do some more research.

also keep in mind, I learned the hard way, don't go with the s300g there are no up grades for it, HTT did a test on mine and made it a 62/14 and it was better, the s300 has a bunch of options for future upgrades with out the full cost of a new turbo.

Crewcab, did you change the lines with the LPPP or use stock? I added a draw straw and 1/2" lines to the LPPP and gained 3-4 psi at idle and about 2 at WOT, and that's with the stock lines from there to the IP.

Well, I allready have the S300G so, I will at least cut my teeth so to speak with it! Besides, it was....welll a good price ;)

I will get some pics of the setup this weekend. Looking for a datalogger right now as well. Going to monitor and datalog everything I can. I enjoy building and tuning more than about anything so I am having fun with this.

What is different about the cartridge on the S300G than a s300 ? What makes it not upgradeable. i was under the impression that the g meant waste gated but sure there is more to it than that. I will ask next time I talk to the engineer friend.

I got the last of my transmission parts in today to finish building it. Still waiting on the bellhousing from AA though. Looks like the only HX40 downpipe for 1st gen stuff is Source Auto. Was going to build one but my time is spread pretty darn thin so I will just buy one to hopefully speed this up.

Source Auto stuff pretty decent??

I ran 1/2 inch all the way to the l/p inlet. I put a suburban fuel tank in the back of the truck under the bed,so i had no lines, with a 1/2 draw straw(41 gal.), with two 14gal side tanks.wooohooo its a crewcab, and the lines are 16ft maybe that had something to do with it,haha, now i have by passed the block all together.

the s300g is a smaller unit overall, so the parts don't interchange, that's why HTT bored mine out, to give people an option.

I see what you mean on the turbo now.

Working on the throttle cable and pedal this weekend. Going to get started in my fuel lines too. The big holdup is the bellhousing from AA. They are back ordered til october. Going to order my Innovate data logger next week. I wil be logging egt, pre and post turbo, post inter cooler, rpm, boost, and engine temps.

pre and post turbo

that will clear up lots of misinformation about where to put egt probes

I am ordering Innovate's TC-4 thermocouple interface along with their LMA-3 datalogger. I will actually have 5 temps I can log with this setup and can add more with additional TC-4 modules. My plan is pre and post turbo on both sides of the turbo(inducer and exducer) and post intercooler. With this data, then I can get a true map of what is going on in the system. This will give me ambient air going into the turbine, air into intercooler, from intercooler, from exhauset manifold and then after turbo. I can also log RPM, and boost as well with this setup.

Things have slowed some this week as I have had two deaths in the extended family. Hopefully I can get back on this project full swing soon.
