Tuning questions

Postby elm302 » Tue Oct 04, 2011 8:19 am

Got some questions for you guys. With everything that's in my Sig I feel like my truck should have more power. I have some lag but not bad. I only hit 37 psi and its hard to make it get over 1350 degres. My timing is almost to the head. Haven't installed my timing spacer yet. I just thought it would run out a little better. I've been thinking about going to a 7x12 to see if that helped my bottom end what do you guys think. Star wheel is all the way up I've got the full throttle mod.

my truck feels better with the star wheel at the bottom, your timing is moving heat into the head and taking energy away from the turbo. also your wastegate may be creeping open and starting to bleed off boost if it is set for 40psi. my wastegate is bypassed but i think drive pressure was cracking it open internally, so i hooked the rod back up and tightend it up a bit now my turbo spools really fast. Aslo check to see if the temp swith on your manifold is bad and sending 12volts to your ksb, thus giving you even more timing than you think you have. Mine was bad when i bought my truck and i didn't know till i hooked up a ksb switch and found it.

Put your timing back to stock-ish and put the spacer in. Should help low end spooling and keep you going in the top end. Then disconnect the KSB wire and put in your own switch.

The 63 is slightly on the bigger side for the injectors and the VE it seems.

Also, check your shut-off solenoid. When mine was going out on my 2wd, it didn't shut it off right away but it also didn't fully open. When I got a new one, some new SOTP power was found but I don't know if it was all in my head.

Ok guys thanks for the info. Ill try the spacer as soon as I get home off the road. How can I check the temp switch to see if it works? Are you saying to wire my ksb on switch so I can turn it on and off? Thanks again

Mine is out right now been bad for several months got one sitting at the house waiting to go in. Are you thinking my injectores might be too small for the 63?

Well... Maybe.

I think it is not spooling fast enough. Pull timing and add the spacer. See what that does.

Have you turned the full power screw? I don't see that in your sig... Also you could try a 374 or even a 354 spring (3700-3800, 4200 rpms).

Yes I have my screw in as far as itll go until it wont idle right. Ive thought about getting a 374 spring cause i can hit 3200 really fast.

I just put in a 374 last night and ground my stock cone a little further. Spools better and hits 38-39 psi now on the stock injectors.

I run a 63-68-12 with ddp stage 3 injectors with the timing almost stock with a home made timing device also I have a adjustable boost valve going to the afc so at 20psi on the boost gauge the afc is just starting to open. The turbo spools up almost as fast as you can push the skinny pedal the turbo makes right at 50psi with the pump not maxed out the point iam trying to make is alittle less fuel on the bottom end helps spool the turbo much quicker you have to find the sweet spot Also i would check for boost leaks Hope this helps
