fuel shutoff solenoid

Postby danc » Tue Oct 18, 2011 8:51 pm

I joined the pull cable club 6 months ago but I am worried that the solenoid may be restricting fuel into the IP. Do I need to pull the pump head to get the solenoid out or can I squeeze it by with out pulling the head ,or is it ok as is. I was going to pull the it and remove the tip and the spring and put it back without the wire. If anyone has any tips or trick to making this any easier would be great. THANKS

There is a pump support bracket that will interfere with getting a wrench on the solinoid. I had to pull the bracket off and it came right out.

For you guys that fight around the bracket, just cut it off where the holes are in it. There are several approved methods, bend it back and forth with a crescent wrench until it pops off, cut it off, or a combination of both. I cut mine part way with a cut off wheel on the 4" grinder, then bent it about 3-4 times and it was outta the way.

I modified a deep offset wrench to fit in there.

Just did mine with a sharp chisel. Took 30 mins max. I removed the up-pipe and took off the throttle bracket. Also, get that little nut off and the tabs. A good 1/3 of my sealing surface was chiseled away...

I cut my braket off a while back. but today after i finished the install of my denny t afc delete pump top i removed my bad fss and took the chipped rubber stopper comletele off! Look at my photo bucket and u will see my pics. Had large amounts of chewed rubber in a screened banjo. I just wonder whts in my delivery valves...
