Whats a good sign of to much timing?

Your 7x15 injectors are almost twice the size of my 5x14s. They're probably not that far off of a 6x16, which is an injector you just don't run with an HX35.

No amount of timing is going to cut your smoke and heat to manageable levels.

If it sounds like a bagged out 6.5 chevy cold starting in -20, back the timing off a bit. I'd be careful with the head gasket with the added timing as well. Probably be a good idea to at least drill/port the wastegate on that HX35, keep it alive a little longer. I'm gonna do mine next week hopefully, thinkin of goin with a 13/16 bit, and notch the backplate a bit so the flapper can open a bit further.

I know it sucks to hear this, but your best mod may be to turn your fuel screw down a couple turns. You probably won't miss too much, as over-fueled as you are.

Do it. Don't be one of those diesel ricers that runs around with too much fuel and not enough air. It's all too easy with our trucks.

Could probably pull the timing back to stock and run the spacer.

is it not smart to run em both at the same time?? i know of atleast one that has his to the head and was ALSO running the spacer and said when he dropped the timing on the pump that he swears he lost 50-80hp...?? curious i guess. timing is a good thing to an extent..

He just said you could, not that you should. It's all about where in the RPM range you want to make your power. Bumping your static timing will shift the powerband higher up in the revs. The spacer makes it so you don't have to bump it so much to let the pump keep up with the advance needed in the higher RPMs. Horsepower isn't everything, and if you only change your timing then you're just trading torque for it.
