LOL, you gotta sneak up on it, can't flat foot it or you'd put the fire out, big enough injectors would do that at least.
I can't comment on driving any auto without the AFC lever, but mine with a tight converter is terrible with the AFC lever and my custom pin setup to pull as much fuel out of the low end as I can. You still have to sneak up on it, it won't put the fire out, but it will put the lights out behind you.

Your comment on the turbo is right on, just injection pump tweaks push the baby H1C off the map, which in turn puts the EGT's into unacceptable territory.
I guess the biggest question before you remove the lever is what do you use the truck for. Working it or playing around? I think a truck that works/tows needs to have it , a play truck, do anything you want.
