size on turbo?

hey i have a 1990 cummins and wondering what size turbo i should get this winter i have a new transmission going in and i also have 6x16 and 14mm rotor head going in at the same time wondering is a 64/71 to small do i need to go with a 66mm what are your thoughts?

How much is your budget?
auto or stick?
Do you tow alot? (sounds like you don't tow with this truck)
How much weight are you towing usually?
Is it intercooled?
How much fab skillz do you have?
how do you define the truck... i.e. daily driver, work truck, towing machine, intersection blackening diesel ricer machine, etc.

VE's don't like a lot of RPM and a 66mm turbo would be pretty hard for one of our engines to spool. I think you'd be better off with a smaller turbo or go with twins.

Seems like a 62/71/13 would be a good turbo for you.

I feel that it's the best single turbo for a VE play truck. It still spools relatively quick while pushing a lot of air. If you still need more turbo, twins would be the way to go. That's my opinion of course.

I suspect it would spool pretty good until you put a lot of timing in. RSWORDS has a similar set up with 2 teeth advanced and has trouble getting it spooled.

Is that much timing even needed? That much seems a little extreme to me, how much did KTA and Stomp run?

S300/S400 is what I'd run.

Well my 89 with 3/16ths to 1/4 sounds like a cement mixer so 2 teeth,,, MAN, thats not for me.
